I Have Emotions Too

I Have Emotions Too

April 25, 2024 • 8-9pm EDT

We learn a lot about grief for foster children. There is a big concentration on how to support them in their grief and there are resources out there for them. But what about you? Sometimes it may seem that people don’t care about your emotions because of all the focus on the child. And sometimes it may seem that you’re not supposed to have emotions or a voice in what you are doing. Let’s find support with one another to see that you’re probably not alone but your emotions do matter and they are real and you should be able to have an outlet for them!

TBRI® is an attachment-basedtrauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. TBRI® uses Empowering Principles to address physical needs, Connecting Principles for attachment needs, and Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behaviors. the intervention is based on years of attachment, sensory processing, and neuroscience research. TBRI® is designed for children from “hard places” such as abuse, neglect, and/or trauma. Because of their histories, it is often difficult for these children to trust the loving adults in their lives, which often results in perplexing behaviors. TBRI® offers practical tools for caregivers, or anyone who works with children, to see the “whole child” in their care and help that child reach his highest potential.

Whether you have had a child or children in your home for a short period of time or a long period of time. Or whether this is your first placement or 10th placement plus. You may look at your role as foster parent and feel that you see on changes in the foster child, biological parents, system, or anything you’re doing. Sometimes being a foster parent is a hard, thankless job that doesn’t seem to produce fruit. Even without realizing it you may have had hopes and expectations of impacting even just one person when you started this journey but that doesn’t seem to be happening. Come find hope and support with other foster parents to see that God is working even if you don’t see it and you are doing kingdom work even if you never see fruit.
